Caboolture opens $8m expansion

Jun 01, 2015

Ramsay CEO Chris Rex & Australian CEO Danny Sims were both on hand to open the $8m expansion of Caboolture Private Hospital in Queensland recently.

One of Ramsay’s smallest hospitals, the hospital has gone from strength to strength in recent years as the population expands in one of the fastest growing precincts in Australia.

In this newest development, Caboolture opened a third operating theatre and day surgery unit. The modular construction development was one of the first of its kinds in Queensland where the building was constructed offsite and “delivered” in a ready-made fashion to the site.

CEO Chris Murphy said the benefit of the offsite development meant that much fewer trade people and vehicles were required to be onsite during construction phase and this minimised disruption; parking issues and traffic congestion.

The nine individual building modules were delivered onsite, by semi-trailer under police escort. The delivery was staged over two days and each module and roof section was carefully lifted into place by crane.

“Hospital staff were very excited to return to work the following on Monday morning to view the large, new building extension which virtually “sprang up” overnight,” Chris said.
