Dr McGregor is a General Surgeon based in North Brisbane. He opened Northside General Surgeons in 2009 and is a Senior Visiting Surgeon at Redcliffe Hospital.
He completed his Medical Degree with first class honours from the University of Queensland in 2000. Following this he completed and was awarded a PhD from Monash University. He completed his advanced surgical training at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital and at various hospitals around the state.
Dr McGregor performs some of the highest volumes of keyhole hernia surgery and proctology in Australia. Besides these areas he performs a full range of General Surgery procedures. He is certified in both Colonoscopy and Endoscopy by the Gastrointestinal Society of Australia.
Dr McGregor is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery. He is a member of ANZ Breast Surgeons. He is a member of General Surgeons Australia. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at The University of Queensland.
He is a busy dad with 4 children. He plays Trombone in the Queenland Medical Orchestra. Most of his spare time is spent watching his boys play Rugby Union. He is a committee member at Albany Creek Brumbies Junior Rugby Union and the St Pauls Rugby Supporters Group.
Dr McGregor loves travelling all around the world, especially to far flung places to help perform and teach hernia surgery. He thoroughly enjoys the challenges and variety of being a General Surgeon. He has particular interest in advanced laparascopic and robotic hernia surgery and proctology. His other main focus and interest is caring for ladies with breast cancer.
