Dr Askew is an established Queensland trained General Surgeon with interest in bariatrics running a Bariatric/Metabolic surgery weight loss clinic at Caboolture Private Hospital. He has been consulting and operating at the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital since its opening in 2014. Newly built consultant suites are focused on patient care and comfort. Separate General Surgical and Bariatric clinics are run. A multi-disciplinary team approach to weight loss is provided and our comprehensive care program includes surgical, dietitian and psychological support.
Dr Askew graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003 (BSc, MBBS) and obtained his FRACS (Fellow Royal Australian College of Surgeons) in 2010. Dr Askew undertook further post-fellowship training in Bariatric and Upper Gastro-intestinal surgery in New Zealand and Melbourne. With the opening of the hospital precinct at Kawana Dr Askew relocated from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast with his family.
Dr Askew has published articles in HPB and the ANZ Journal of Surgery and has presented at the International Society for Diseases of the Oesophagus meeting. He is the General Surgical Representative for the Medical Advisory Committee at SCUPH. He regularly attends conferences and clinical immersions to ensure his practice and knowledge is current with the latest surgical techniques.
He and his team are committed to providing a friendly and approachable environment to help your patients feel at ease. Dr Askew lives on the Sunshine Coast with his young family and is learning to surf.
