Dr Tai Smith is a Queensland trained ophthalmologist that specialises in eyelid, orbit and lacrimal surgery. His subspecialty fellowship training was completed at the University of British Columbia Eye Care Centre in Vancouver, Canada in 2012. This is a highly sought-after fellowship under the tutelage of Prof Peter Dolman.
Returning to Brisbane, his private ophthalmology practice focusses exclusively in the ophthalmology subspecialty of oculoplastic, orbit and lacrimal surgery. He visits Bundaberg once a month and now services Caboolture and the Moreton region consulting at the Central Lakes Eye Clinic every fortnight.
Dr Smith has research interests including floppy eyelid syndrome with an international patent and publications associated with this project. He is also the CEO of a start-up company of his invention “Barista Mist™” – a coffee nasal spray soon to enter the commercialisation stage. He has new research projects with the School of Biomedical Sciences at QUT Kelvin Grove.
